Elder Care Support

Funded through NACCHO, the Elder Care Support Program enables our Elders to access My Aged Care services in their homes and in residential care living.
Many of our Elders live too far away from mainstream services to connect with them, wait too long to get support, feel culturally misunderstood and have competing pressures at home.
The three key aims of the program are to:
- Reduce barriers experienced by Aboriginal people across the aged care journey by ensuring care is respectful of our values and culture.
- Increase the number of our Aboriginal people accessing Aged Care services by training ACCHO staff in how to navigate systems and reduce localised barriers to accessing culturally sensitive care.
- Increase the number of our Aboriginal people receiving Aged Care on Country.
