Programs
SAWCAN focuses on improving Aboriginal health through three main areas of support to our Partner Organisations by:
- Building local capacity: SAWCAN works to empower our Partner Organisations by providing them with the skills and training required to implement community health programs, including aged care, disability services, and maternal and child health programs.
- Advocacy: We advocate to state and federal governments on regional matters, as directed by the Governing Board of SAWCAN. This ensures that the unique needs and challenges of our communities are recognised and addressed at a policy level.
- Regional coordination: SAWCAN provides coordination of programs across the region, ensuring that services are delivered efficiently and effectively to those who need them most.

SAWCAN is currently running a project that will upskill the Aboriginal Health Practitioner workforce within our Partner Organisations, enabling them to independently vaccinate community members.
