About us

The South Australian West Coast ACCHO Network (SAWCAN) is a partnership of five Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) working together to improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people across the Eyre Peninsula and Far West Coast. We collaborate to build capacity, share knowledge, and advocate as one voice for our communities.

About the role

As the Workforce Education and Support Officer, you will work across key programs, including the Aboriginal disAbility Alliance (AAA), Elder Care Support (ECS), and Remote Community Connectors Program. Your role will be to deliver workforce education, support the rollout of NDIS training videos, and create new aged care-specific resources. You will work closely with the Program Lead to ensure the successful delivery of these regional projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and delivering training sessions to local workforce members in disability, aged care, and community services.
  • Supporting the rollout of updated NDIS training videos and developing aged care-specific resources.
  • Identifying additional training needs and resources to build workforce skills and capacity.
  • Providing ongoing mentoring and practical support to the workforce, both online and onsite.
  • Ensuring that training materials are customized to meet jurisdictional needs and remain up to date.
  • Contributing to the scoping and development of national accredited training pathways in collaboration with NACCHO and AHCSA.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong experience in delivering workforce education and training, particularly in the disability or aged care sectors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and mentor others.
  • Knowledge of NDIS and Aged Care, as well as experience in the community services sector.
  • Ability to develop training materials and resources that are culturally appropriate and practical for regional use.
  • Understanding of Aboriginal culture and experience working with Aboriginal communities.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across the Eyre and Far West Coast region to deliver on-site support and training.

Why work with SAWCAN?

  • Make a difference – Help build workforce capacity in Aboriginal communities and improve outcomes in aged care and disability services.
  • Grow your career – SAWCAN offers professional development opportunities and the chance to work on innovative projects.
  • Flexible Work Arrangement – This role offers the flexibility to work from home when not traveling across the region.
